CLUSTER COMPUTING

LOKI RENDER

Photo: Loki Render program screenshot

This little program is a gem. It runs on all platforms, and works across all platforms. It can be run as a manager to slave units, or it can be run as a slave unit itself on a machine. In the screenshot above, we see there are a total of 9 cores across a total of 5 machines, running Windows and Linux OSs. Simply add .blend files from Blender to the master unit (screenshot) and the slave units connected will be handed frame by frame all the pictures to be rendered in the queue, until all .blend files have been rendered.

If a node crashes during the render, the master node will give it to another computer to be rendered. Thus node status' are flexible as the render manager can take them on and off line as needed.
